This course explores plein air painting as a tool for developing an advanced understanding of light, color, and atmosphere within the context of entertainment design. Students will paint on location to observe how light interacts with materials, environments, and time of day, translating these studies into visual storytelling applications for film, games, and worldbuilding.
Emphasis is placed on color relationships, value structure, and mood, as well as the ability to interpret natural light into imaginative compositions. Students will refine their visual memory, strengthen their grasp of environmental believability, and learn to apply observational principles to concept art production, keyframes, and visual development.
