Credits 3
Instructional Method
Academic Level
This class offers students insight into contemporary methods for design and manufacturing. This gives the student a better understanding of how data drives form and, in turn, drives production. Course material is structured around hardware and software integration and how this applies to form. The class integrates 3d modeling using Solidworks as one of the most popular 3d modeling and manufacturing software for Product Design and Engineering. Different techniques of solid modeling will be discussed to measure modeling time and effectiveness. Standard fabrication processes, materiality finishes and joinery will be also discussed in a weekly basis to prepare students to deal with outside vendors.
