In this class students will develop a drawing practice based on observation.  Subjects covered include the figure, head and hands, and basic anatomy. In addition to the figure, observational drawing will be developed through a situational series of exercises focusing on both natural and urban environments and their related subjects. Descriptive drawing, image construction, analysis of form, and how to understand the effect of light will be demonstrated. Students will learn to interpret and utilize multiple drawing methodologies through in class projects, emphasizing descriptive line, structure,  proportion, and multiple approaches to the use of value.  Projects will be supported by lectures, demonstrations, assignments, and critiques. Students will also learn how to develop a robust sketchbook practice.
