This class explores 3d content creation through the modeling and rendering workflows of the open-source software Blender. Along with sub-d modeling and offline rendering, it will introduce digital sculpting, physically based simulations, and the parametric system of geometry nodes. Through step-by-step modeling and rendering of a variety of projects, students will gain proficiency in creating content applicable to their chosen field of study, whether it be Product, Transportation, Entertainment, or Spatial Design. Industry standard techniques and round-trip exchanges between traditional cad modeling programs like RHINO and SOLIDWORKS will be a consistent point of focus. At the end of the course, students will have a level of technical competency and confidence to pursue advanced studies in 3d content creation. No prior experience in 3d modeling is required.
